my car makes this noise without pressing on brakes. Iv'e posted in the brakes fourum and didn't get to many replies. The replies i've had i have checked or either it's not related. I have put a different rotor on there, changed the pads, and bent back my dust shield.

I am comptemplating getting a used knuckle and hope that helps.
