Default Pics of my Brake Master Cylinder Brace...

I made a master cylinder brace on the weekend with parts from Home Depot.

The finished product

Installed in the car. No drilling was required to install it.

Could you list the parts and materials used?

To make the brace more effective you need to add rigidity to it, by making it triangulated.

This could easily be done by welding in another piece of metal as a support.

I used fence post corner ties (simpsons strong ties I think they are called).

Tweak: The brace is black cause I painted it.

Reid: I welded on gussets yesterday but have not taken pics of it yet. There is zero deflection with my brace.

Only the washers I used as bushings are touching the shock tower. I had to use the washers cause the area between the two holes on the shock tower has a bump protruding out.

You may want to use larger diameter washers.

The shock tower sheetmetal is very thin. I'm not sure if it could happen, but it seems that tearing out that brace (especially if the brace is very rigid) is a possibility.

I highly doubt it would tear of the shock tower sheet metal but I will be going to Home Depot later on to get some larger washers (if it is available).

The washers only affect the one side (where the force is pushing instead of pulling on the shock tower).

Washers on both sides would be nice also.

Could someone quickly explain the science behind needing a brace, and what happens when the brace is there, along with the pros and cons?

Get your buddy to stomp on the break peddle while you look under the hood at the mc and you'll see why a brace helps

I would deduce then that it moves/flexes. So, preventing it from moving/flexes helps how?

It's all about leverage. Think about it this way, you got slippery shoes on and your pushing against a wall, if you secure your feet, you will push with a greater force.

Bad analogy but you get the point.
