Default Slicks for 5th gen!

I have tried to search but have not found anything related to what I am looking for..

I have 2 300zx tt wheels laying at home (16" 8.5" width) and want to get slicks for them for the track. what size slicks should I be looking for, for that wheel? I cant seem to understand the "slick sizing"

thanks!!

BFG g-force drag radial. 255/50-16. This tire should fit under the wheel well, but it will be close. It will definitely fit on the rim you specified.

Correct but isnt that tire more of a street tire, not a slick?? Im looking more along the lines of strait slicks for the track

Thanks!

ok, then the closest you will get for that rim is a mickey thompson ET-street. These are virtually slicks other than a couple small tread lines.

they sell a pn: 3792 26X10.50-16LT

but you better be making some power to whip up 26" tires.

you should really find a set of 15" rims. there are way more tires to choose from with a 15" rim. plus the monney you'll save running a 24.5 (broken transmissions) will offset to cost of the rims.

Yeah 26" seems to be a little to big. I was talking to a couple guys at the track last night and they were saying 22-24" but I cant seem to find that size for 16inch wheels...

Guess Its time to find some 15" wheels..any recomindations for cheap ones? Like really cheap ones? Also dont like the broken transmission thoughts.

My setup is a boosted h22 at 19 lbs 440whp.... went to the track on 222/50/16 kdw2 tires and was spinning through three gears

So when I get 15" wheels what size slicks should I be looking to get for them, not being harsh on the transmission and still able to get traction?

P.S:

Was looking on summit and found these couple tires for 16inch rims, any oppionions?

Nitto NT01 245/50/16
Nitto NT 555R 245/50/16
MT 3793R 255/50/16
Hoosier 17320 225/50/16

Thanks

I think you will find most FWD guys running 22" MT 23" MH or 24.5" MH
With your power, I think you will find most people suggesting 24.5", but your next issue will be finding "CHEAP" wheels that are wide enough. Wheel selection will be easier since you have the 5 lugs.

All that you listed except the Hoosiers are almost 26" tires.

As far as cheap 15s, I can only suggest Rotas @ $100/ea

lets say for the 24.5" how wide of a tire should I be looking for? Also what would the suggested offset be for the wheels? I remember hearing a while back that some people were using the older gen 240sx wheels for slicks because they were 5 lug and 15inch? Any truth to that?

Now about the Hoosiers that I listed, are those tires any good? Would it benifit me more to get the 15inch wheels and use slicks or keep my 16's and use the Hoosiers?

Thanks for the help man!

I'm not sure about the 240sx wheels. IIRC they are 4 lug and 20 offset.
I don't want to point you in the wrong direction[as I don't run slicks anymore], but this is what I was going to use with my ~500whp Turbo Setup. The GUY you really want to talk to is "md23vtec" aka Fastest Prelude in the World Owner! He's a very cool guy, don't be shy.
Tread Width: 8.5"
Section Width: 10.0"
Diameter: 24.5"
Circumference: 77.0"
Rim Size: 8.0"
