impossible alternator nut, help plz!

Default impossible alternator nut, help plz!

so im trying to replace my alternator. the nut is a b****! it was stripped and vice grips didnt do squat. so i tried to take the bracket off first, but even the bracket bolt feels like its gonna strip.

so i tried to cut the nut and i cant take it out still. i tried to hit it with a screw driver and hammer. no luck. somebody advice please?

cant get a bolt extractor on it? or dremel a slot into it for a flathead? pb blast it, heat it...

well havent tried the bolt extractor yet. the nut is really ****ed up now from the dremeling. and i dont really have the money for a bolt extractor. i seen that stuff for like over 25 bucks at sears.

and i did cut a slot for the flathead. not going anywhere. put a shitload of wd40 and some gunk remover ****. nothing.

oh and what does heating it up do? what would i heat up

Before you screw it up more than it is, just use a bolt extractor. You can get a set from Harbor Freight pretty cheap, or go to your local Sears and buy a set.

The same thing happened to me and I spent hours trying to get it off.

Word of advice to everyone...if the alternator bolt or the distributor bolts start to strip just save yourself the headache and get a bolt extractor.

The long bolt hammers right out, sometimes it's rusted and seems like it's stuck

yeahhh im an idiot. i thought i could cut it right off or make a slit so i could hammer it loose with a flat head. but that totally didnt work. so im taking it to a shop tomorow. i hope they can get it off

It expands the metal and helps break it loose.
You have to heat it to HOT - red or white hot!!!
