Default 4x114.3 Brakes on DA

I'm just curious to know what is involved with this swap. I am considering this swap, because of the selection of wheels I would prefer to use are of an older design and are predominantly 4x114.3. I have read so far that the fronts can be swapped because the 96 spec hub is like the DA and not like the DC chassis, however I found another thread that said the opposite and said that the hubs need to be machined to fit DA wheel bearings. I am thinking the rear is a simple remove and replace as it should be, am I missing something?

Real straight forward swap if you have all the parts. I've actually done this and the 5-lug swap on two separate DA's. I've learned some common pitfalls.

This info is wrong, the DA hubs press fit shaft diameter is actually smaller then the any DC Type R hub. This is not a simple press in process.

If you do go this route (which i don't recommend) make sure to find a good machinist. It is really easy for the hubs to be machined non-centric of the entire hub. This would result in some extra vibrations while driving.

Do your self a favor and just replace the spindle and not the whole arm. Its more work but you'll have DA trailing arms instead DC ones.

This is a trick i did the second time around. Grab the new DA wheel bearing and pop out the inner race with a flat screw driver like so.

then just put in the DC inner wheel races (2 per side) now you can press in the Type R hubs with no problems.

Thanks for the advice. I was only thinking about swapping the rear trailing arms, because it's usually easier to drop one arm then remove the spindle from it.
