I really wouldnt bother than if not spending alot of money is your thing. To make your car "fast" takes quite a bit of work... and money. Cold air intakes and exhaust might sound cool and give placebo, but i doubt you would be satisfied with any of the small gains, often unoticeable, things like that provide. Real power is gained through tedious engine building (cams, headwork, pistons, etc) which is very expensive. You could spend a couple thousand on a turbo setup and run low boost with a good tune and make 200-250 depending on engine health. All in all its going to take money... nothing is cheap, especially power. Not to sound mean but i would worry about keeping it clean and running strong if you dont want to spend alot on making it faster

i second that. you may even realize a few hp on the butt-dyno doing a low budget tune-up. plugs, wires, fresh oil, clean filters, fully inflated tires... these can all help performance and economy.

to give you an example of what this takes money wise to be fast... i'm working on what i see as a very tight budget in an attempt to about double my hp. the planned budget totals out to around $2200...

if you keep your eyes open for deals you can do intake and exhaust for next to nothing, but you'll not get much more out of them...

oh and needing exhaust to make an intake work... maybe your friend meant to truly be effective... you don't need both for them to work

(looking for something that can hold up to a turbo in the future). im looking to take the gold with this project and who better to ask then people who have already been there and done that...so any insight would be greatly appreciated. thanks

but the question is are you looking for more speed or more power?

more speed can be done with a simple computer tune by removing the stock governor, or you could just unplug your speedo and use a gps to see how fast you are going.

more power, just refer to the above.
