Engine swap into 97 accord lx sedan
Hello im new to this forum and i was wondering which engine would be the best to swap into a 97 accord lx sedan. i dont want the h22 engine because i still want it to be an auto so i was thinking about a k24a2 from a tsx with rsx type r head? but any suggestion would be helpful thanks..and also the items i would need and the price

as for the k24, i saw u still need ALOT to learn if you asking this question soo you might want to read around before you act...plus u dont understand yet how much money your gonna spend on that swap.....
not trying to be rude just giving you the facts.....
well i already know about how much the k24a2 swap would run me thank you and secondly an auto h22 swap would just be a waste of time but an auto h22 is just pointless. and beside i could still use a k24 from an accord and it be around 1500 which is how much a h22a would cost me so but its just i want an auto engine with 200hp off the bat
the tsx k24 would run me about 3 grand for the engine
probably 600 for the hasport mounts
the tsx k24 would run me about 3 grand for the engine
probably 600 for the hasport mounts
basing it on an auto h22 has about 180 and you really cant do to it while the k24 has more hp and torque, and most people who even has an auto h22 always end up switchin to manual just to get more boost
work on your grammar, this is hard enough to read, and you need to go too the faq or google because you dont really have anything right. h22's have enough power to make a noticeable difference hence why it is so popular and a good swap, and the seemingly unlimited aftermarket support helps. Second, u cant really compare the two.. for starters the h22 is a 2.2 liter engine whilest the k24 is a 2.4... so of course the larger displacement has more potential/ stock power. And what are u talking about boost for? i havent seen you bring turbos up all. Boost refers to turbo chargers (i.e. a forced induction system)
Op you have no clue what you are talking about you realize no power steering or AC with the k swap right? That's custom and what transmission are you using? How are you going to tune the auto stock ecu won't work from either car etc want it auto? Do the h.

one i noe about all the items i need for the k swap lol imma use a transmission from an 04 accord, engine harness from civic si, 04 accord throttle, k-pro, custom drive shaft, and custom axles. the reason why i dont want an h22 because an auto h22 is pointless. and if people would read for once i say and AUTO ENGINE that offer 200hp or more off the bat. in order for the auto h22 to get that you would need boost, but i dont want that. and beside i made this thread for SUGGESTION OF AUTOO ENGINES and if you really want to compare the k24a2 engine vs an auto h22 the k24a2 would win. secondly i noe about the price factor between the two but i never mention anything about having money problems. and i suggested the k24a2 is because its better to handle my accord chassis. and honestly tell me which engine would u prefer to have an auto h22 or k24a2 thank you. and another thing i never mention anything about the process so how did i over simplify it only thing i mention to begin with was which would be a good auto engine that has 200hp. beside the tranny for the h22 is so bleh all in all i did not make this thread to argue i just wanted suggestion for good auto engines so............K>H

You have greatly oversimplified the cost factor. Initial cost may be cheaper for the K series but everything after that is MUCH MUCH greater. After it's said and done you're looking at well over the price of a H22 dropped in.
You didn't address any of the cost factors beyond the initial cost. IE, you're oversimplifying the swap process.
H22 Type S with the automatic LSD transmission available from the Accord Wagon. see taht i did not noe thank you.....
cost i noe i will end up spending like near 10 grand or more
and the swap process that i didnt mention because my friend is going to do it for me

Well they're separate, the H22 Type S is roughly rated at 220 hp if I recall. The (JDM) Accord Wagon came with an automatic LSD transmission. Buy the long block of the Type S and the transmission separately.
It'll probably over $10k once you're done if you do a K swap. I had close to $15k in my Accord before it was sold and I had not touched the motor (it was a stock H22A I swapped in).

One of your "friends" is going to spend countless man-hours doing ALOT of cutom work to your 12 y/o car for free?? Shyt, I need some better friends....
yoo if u are gonna spend 10gs on the kswap, why not just buy a newer accord or tsx....u wil get more benefit on every aspect.....
and bro bigsnorlax isnt criticising you, you just have to read and look around before you post, we cant do everything for you...
and besides YOU said to suggest what good auto motor....and we gave u the auto h22, and then you still insist on the k24a2, then why keep asking....
you better hope your friend knows what he is doing especially if he is doing it for FREE....if he messes up then your screwed....plus the work it is for that kswap....
why not think about it then get back at us...

This guy just doesn't make any complete sense. Lol.
Auto H22 is slow?. Man, I guess I'm in the era where Supra wings on a civic makes vtec kick in faster and stickers makes my car +10psi on boost.
Lol. People suggested the auto H22. You want to K24A2 swap and now you ask for the LSD transmission. Make up your mind.
Oh and for your friend that's doing it for free. Hope you know him good because if he ****s up one thing you are already screwed and seeing how you react to how we respond, I think you might just kill yourself haha.

There is no difference between the auto & manual H22A1 block itself. Not like the F20B that has two different tunes depending on the type of transmission it's bolted too. There is no such thing as a manual or automatic H22A block. It's the transmission that it's bolted to that makes it a manual or automatic vehicle. From the engine specs I have read, the H22A engine is the same for both. One may put down more power to the ground but the engine specs are the same.
Oh and the K24a2 swap in a 5th gen is going to cost you an arm and a leg. For an extra 10 crank hp & 10 ft-lbs tq. Your not going to be any faster with a K24a2 automatic than you would be with an H22A automatic. Honestly the H22A with an auto LSD trans would probably still spank the K24 off the line. Now, This is only my opinion mind you. I have no expert knowledge of the two swaps.
It's just that the K24A2 trans is made for longer and soft gear changes, while the H22A is a short geared, sport tuned transmission. Just throwing that out there for ya. But honestly, unless you are physically unable to drive a standard, once you have ether of these engines swapped into your car. Your going to want a 5 or 6spd manual transmission to play around with.
Cheers

o no imma just go with the jdm h22 type s with the lsd tranny and i want an auto tranny because my girl doesnt know how to drive a stick and im too lazy to teach. its just that every other forum i went to everyone was always talking about how much power you will lose if you put an auto h22 instead of manual
Well you do loose the ability to keep the power where you want. But that has nothing to do with the engine. That's the Auto transmission. The auto LSD should keep you and your girl pretty happy.... :shakeshead: Your staying auto for your GF, F#@k that. My wife will probably never sit in the passenger seat of my Accord never mind drive it...lol
Good luck with your swap
Cheers
