Icon6 Surge Tank

Hi Guys,

I've installed a surge tank on my Civic and I have a question maybe you can help .

From the OEM fuel tank , I have an intank walbro 255hp that is feeding the surge tank.
The outlet from the surge tank is -10 feed to an Aeromotive A1000 fuel pump, then goes -10
to a -10 fuel rail and to the Aeromotive fpr and the return is -6 to the surge tank again.

With the system I have, can the surge tank be without fuel?
Sometimes I can hear the Aeromotive fuel pump change noises.

Thanks for your help

What size is the surge tank? What size is the return line from the surge tank to the main tank?

Perhaps the noise change is correlated with voltage change? I know the only A1000 I've played with had distinctly different sounds when at 12.2V (key-on, engine off) and 13.8V (cruising).

Idk what else can be said, maybe monitor fuel pressure or figure out voltage at the pumps and monitor that. You could also find out your flow rates at different voltages your pumps are seeing and do the math to see if it has the ability to run dry. idk man.

I doubt it is running dry. You would probably hear gargling or something of the sort. Most likely you are paranoid and you are just hearing the voltage changes between idling and when you give it gas.

Either way if you are worried do your math.
