Anybody Have CA BAR'ed Ef9 with B16A?
I try to get Pass CA BAR for my EF9, I've already installed all the parts needed. OBD1 conversion, CARB legal Skunk2 IM, stock Airbox, USDM P30 ECU, DC Sports Header, Catalytic Converter, HKS Sport Exhaust (stock look), and Inline four engine wiring conversion.
I really nedd to somebody that done it, coz seeing is believing. Right now I have CEL for Idle control valve, and knock sensor, I did replace the Idle control valve, still not fix the problem. Kinda tired just browsing ask here there and not get it fixed. So this time I just wanna ask is there anybody have spare time so I can see your car my self, and asking directly. SOCAL only pelase. Thx

you can't bar a jdm motor anymore in california after 04/2009. it was already a law in place but was never enforced until now. also a b16a was never offered in any USDM 88-91 civic chassis so your pretty much SOL. only USDM motors are allowed to be bar'd in california and the only legal jdm motor to replace in your car is a d15b non vtec or a zc sohc since its considered a replacement engine and not a engine change which requires a state inspection.

If you really want that JDM motor in the car. Get yourself a B16A2 and bar it. Then swap the B16A2 for the B16A. This is in some cases only because I hear sometime they put the Engine's VIN on the sticker and sometime they don't.
Hey, if you really want to have JDM, you are going to have to go through that. And damn Cali's law is just retarted.
that is 100 the best part about nevada's smog laws, if you live outside of Reno, or Las Vegas, you don't even have to smog. and, in reno, you don't have to have an emissions test if its obd-1 or up, if you don't throw a code, you pass.
