2001 accord key question??
ok, we got an 01(12/00) accord ex in with the v6 vtec engine but no key. these engines bring some nice $$$ so my question is do these cars have pats keys on them or regular cut keys?? we dont mind paying a locksmith $50 to cut a key but we're not going to pay $200 to have a stupid key cut.
if they are pats keys is there a way to bypass that to see if the engine will crank and run for selling purposes??

Call a car audio shop that does remote starts, they can tell you.
If your a madman like me you could hot wire the ignition, then spray engine start into the throttle body in pulses. It will run for a little bit.

I believe these keys have an immobilizer chip in them. You will likely have to take the car to the dealer and replace the immobilizer unit. For example, see http://answers.yahoo.com/question/in...0172949AABmdbz .
I have 99 accord v6 that is not running for 2 weeks now simply because I misplaced 2 set of keys inclding remotes. How much will it cost me to have a copy just the key for now, i might still find the missing keys somewhere somehow pls. quote me. Im from richmond British Columbia, Canada Postal code V6V 2P3. I just need to feel and bond with my car again.
Thanks
Thanks
I guess since the keys can be done only by the dealer, the easiest way to get a quote is to call your local Honda dealer (http://www.richmondhonda.com/). Judging from the internets, this should cost about 70-100 per key - see two-year old prices at http://answers.yahoo.com/question/in...8083045AAPSsUA
