Did you let your car idle for a solid 10-15 minutes after reconnecting the battery before driving around?

sometimes the cel will come on once you put an intake on and just go beat the sh*t out of your car without letting the ecu recalibrate itself.

The ECU has to adjust to the increased air flow.

I would first like to know what intake you have.

What kind of intake do you have man?

Your MAF sensor might be dirty. Go to your auto parts store and buy some CRC Mass Air Flow Sensor Cleaner

My car was throwing CELs with my intake for a while. I used some of this and it seemed to help

Theres your problem man, EGAY FTMFW.

Its probably an intake that belongs to a different car cut to fit the SI. **** I woulodnt be suprised if its a dryer tube with a napkin on the end rubberbanded for a filter.

THROW that POS away son!

Buy a better intake... Fujita/injen/ **** even AEM's better then EGAY stuff.

/facepalm

If your happy with an Egay intake, well then you shoulda got a better car.

Ie:

00 civic

ford focus

mustang

Atleast then it wont be so bad if you throw egay **** in there.

Does your Ebay intake have a slot for the MAF sensor?

From what I understand it doesn't matter if you let your car sit and idle. The maf sensor is calibrated to the size and shape of the intake tubing. So if your intake does not share the same size and geometry of the stock intake your ECU will fuel improperly becuase it thinks it has different amounts of air coming in, when in reality it may not be that much different.

Watch the fpro tutorials. Tuners prefer the speed/density(MAP) calibrations instead of MAF because then the style and design of the intake is not nessassarily a factor for fuel tuning.

Knowing what I know now about tuning which isn't alot, you should never change an intake on a car that does fueling based on the maf sensor, like our cars do. It could make a drastic change in fueling. On a maf car the intakes are way more critical than exhaust.

The nicer SRI and CAI have been holding up just fine. Very few issues have been reported with Fujita, Injen, Takeda and other such intakes. AEM and the ebay ones are almost guaranteed to throw a CEL. It's not that you have to maintain stock intake geometry or anything, it's about the air passing over the MAF correctly. If you can kill the turbulence before the MAF then you are fine.

I agree with you except that changing the goemetry compared to the original is what causes the air to pass over the MAF incorrectly
