Vtec breaks up??
Ok so this is my first honda so I know nothing about vtec or any of that. But today I was driving and went to hit vtec in first and nothing happened. Then I came out of class later on and hit vtec fine in second but I noticed that it broke up a little. Like went in and out of vtec. So I let it alone and tried it later and noticed it again. Like in first it wont hit or it hits very late and second and third will hit but start to break up like its in vtec but starts cutting in and out of it. What could it be? Could it be a bad batch of gas? Any help would be greatly appriciated!
ha no ****. thats awesome. Ill check the oil tomorrow. Also I did notice its smoking a little, like its burning oil. Is this normal? And also without doing a rebuild is there any way to fix it?
Vtec tends to burn some oil on some cars....excessive amount of oil burning then you might have another problem.
I have about same problem....Vtec use to engage and disengage...and i think it still does it....i get a Check engine light..do u? if yes, check what codes it gives u. Could be that ur solenoid or Vtec Oil Pressure switch is going bad or clip just having bad contact.

Is it a clean swap??? I'd never buy a swapped car since most of the time, its a shitty install.
Yes please keep a close eye on it. My original D16Y7 was also smoking a tiny bit of oil.

yeah usually this is caused by low oil like you found, also if you have the problem again that could be caused by the screen being dirty on the solenoid, as well as a bad fuel filter, also a little less likely is the vtec solenoid could be bad but that would be rare for it to cause those types of symptoms
