hi guys, i just bought a 07 habenero red pearl 4 door si. Just wondering if you guys think i got a good deal, spent 11,500 dollars on it. it has 27,xxx miles on it. Clean title, with carfax report, no accidents or anything.
Now i have question, sometimes when shifting from first to second, it doesnt go into second gear to good. It'd feel like its missing and the throw is really short. I've driven a few si's and dont remember second gear being that hard to hit. When driving normally, it goes in fine, but when you get on it and try to shift fast, or just try to shift fast, it wont go in and feels as if its missing. just wondering if you guys have had this problem.

the thing is mine dont grind. Like i stated, it seems like second gear isnt there when it does it, and when it does go in, the throw feels really short as if there is a short throw shifter on there, but the car is completely stock. Fourth and sixth gear feels wierd too, but goes in fine.

If you're sloppy with the shift, you can miss it easily. Thats just what comes with the 8th gen. Also, if it is cold, it could miss. Gotta get the car warmed up. The shifting is tight and bitchy sometimes. You just need to be mindful. Beyond that, if there is a serious problem, it should be obvious.

that may be true because the only 2 times ive had it happen to me is when the car was cold and it was raining! and the other time was either the trannies fault or mine lol!

Yeah. For some reason, the transmission and clutch assembly are significantly affected by rain and wet/dampness.
What you have to do is somewhat alter the way you shift into 2nd. If at a high rpm range, don't expect it to go into gear when you want it to. Leave the clutch open for a couple hundreths of a second longer than you normally would, to let the rpms start to drop, before trying to drop into second.
I think the problem may stem back to the DWB issue. To put it simply, the computer cannot adjust quickly enough for high rpm-shifts...at least in 2nd gear.
I-vtec dohc...perhaps this is why you don't have this issue. The reflash somehow changed things.
