Default swapped my 88 civic cluster with 91.. trouble?

I put in a 91 cluster in my 88 civic (almost identical cluster). the plugs in the back fit fine, but when i turned on the car the gas gauge doesnt work. also the engine light was on. So then I drove away and speedo worked fine so iv been driving it like that for now. a month later now the speedo seems to read lower then im actually going...almost stuck or something...its about 20 km/hr behind only when going over 120. but at low speeds its acurate!!?? hmmmm

IS this all because of the cluster, i obviously think the gas gauge is because of the cluster, but why all of a sudden is my speedo ****ing up.

Do 91 clusters function with the 88?

thanks guys

no, the wiring for 88-89 is different than 90-91. you will have to do some de-pinning to get it to work right.

It's pretty simple, make your 88-89 pins look like the 90-91 pins.
