Default California Smog Question Searched...

Need some help. My girlfriend just got a rn job in so cal. She has a 93 civic that i installed a jdm d15b in. Will she have problems getting this car licenced/smogged in Ca? I know that Ca is very strict with this. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

You shouldn't have a problem because the motor is still a "D" series motors. All of the civics from 92-00 came with "D" series motors with the exception of the 99-00 Civic Si and the 94-97 Del Sol Vtec.

These 2 models came with "B" series motor = B16a2 for the Civic Si and B16a3 for the Del Sol Vtec.

I don't think you should have smog problems, but just in case you do just talk to the guy...(anything is possible, hit hit).

I highly doubt youll have smog problems since shops dont give simple swaps like these much scrutiny. Just make sure you have the OEM intake and manifold install.


I got smogged with a Y8 on my DX hatch and they didnt care. I had an EM1 OEM intake and my OEM DX header.
