What kind of clutch should I get?
I have a 1990 teg GS, and my clutch only has about 3 months left on it. I'm thinking that since I'm getting it changed I might as well buy some sort of performance clutch. What type of Clutch should I get? And how much can I expect to pay to get my clutch changed?
Also, at some point I'll want to put in Crower Cams, and a lightweight flywheel. Would this be a good time to get either of those installed, since the mechanic's already in there? Or are those mods completely unrelated?
thx

I'd recommend a Clutchmasters Stage 1 if you plan on staying all motor or a Stage 3 if you're going to boost or spray. Get the lightweight flywheel at the same time, the cams are completely unrelated though.
i definitely agree with this recommendation. i have an ACT street clutch setup and its the best i have ever had. it grabs like no other street disk and i love it.
go with the ACT. I have an ACT stage II and love it. Also get the lightened flywheel with it. An average shop will charge like 300-400 at least to do the clutch. Dropping the tranny is not an easy job to do on our cars. Been there done that.

ACT gets my vote.. it holds very nicely...
Clutchmaster stage 3 if you plan on doing bolton stuff, anything less in the CM brand and it's almost stock... so at LEAST a stage 3.....
If you decide to go with act.. the HDSS would work nicely... and R6 if you want to toss some boost at it...
I have no experience with Clutchnet or action so i can't comment..

i run a CM stage 3 w/ a CM flywheel on my hybrid...good combo and very streetable...was going to go ACT but got the CM on a VERY good USED discount...
next clutch will be a little bit less streetable from ACT(6 or 4 puck?)

ACT all of the way, I have heard of way too many bad stories about Clutchmasters. Also whatever you do don't buy the "eClutchmasters" clutch that sells on ebay!!!!!!!!
Most definitely ACT HDSS. And get the flywheel at the same time...they're down there to do the clutch at the same time, might as well just replace the stock flywheel with a new one.
Try the action, im going to get one and supposebly they are really good.
to rocket! EDIT-Fidanza flywheels are cheap and i have read good things about them too.

STage 1 type of clutches are just like stock and only get it if you dont plan to race or run your car hard on the street.
We recommend the ACTION 1MD on your setup.
it includes a single diaphragm heavy duty pressure plate with
a 4 or 6 puck sprung disc that would be good for the street.
includes bearings as well as the alignment tool

I was refering to Stage 1 kits like the EXEDY, which use "organic" discs, which are really just stock discs.
For non-drag racing, use the kevlar disc from ACTION which is a part # 1KS
Single diaphragm pressure plate with a kevlar disc.

clutch specialties is what I went with. It's actually a street disc, but unsprung and heavy duty PP.
Still breaking it in, and even being unsprung, it's very streetable. I can imagine the sprung version to be very stock like in engagement. I went w/the unsprung because the guy said he could custom make an unsprung full face disc that was streetable.
He recommended it because I told him how my original clutch spring popped out and I didn't want that to happen again, and that it was a design flaw in the OEM disc. Certain clutches are rebuilt OEM discs.
Oh and mine was 315 shipped.
