Default Clutch Removal and Install

For those who have already done this, how hard is it to remove and install the clutch? (B18b1 LS engine) I have never done this before but on a scale of 1-10 how hard would you rate it? I do not have air tools and none of my buddies are technically inclined so I think i may have to do this on my own. Any tips and tricks you can say? Thanks guys.

Get a Helms, torque wrench, big carpet or cardboard, and be ready to do some chest presses.... its alot easier to work on it with someone who has done it before.

If the engine is in the car, its probably a 7, but probably a 11 if you've never done it before.

Oh I am pretty sure I could do it but I would be so much more confident if I did it with someone who has done it before. Do I need to remove the exhaust pipe at all? My car has a 3 inch pipe running down there with the cat etc...all removed would that pose an issue for me? ( i dont want to cut the pipe and re-weld)

the hardest part imo is getting the tranny back on after you install everything, it was a little tuff for me when I had the engine out of the car on my B16, a trans jack would probably make it a lot easier

no you can leave youre exh. on
all you gotta removed are the axles half shaft, and starter and bell housing bolts and rear mount bolt to trans and trans mount. and also replace the resurface the flywheel and replace the throw out brg.

1.)Unhook your neg terminal on the battery for starter removal.
2.)Break the axle nut loose inside the hub on the passenger side.
3.)Jack the car up, with stands holding it up safely,
Remove the pass. side wheel.
4.)Tap the driver side axle out from the intermediate shaft,
unbolt the shaft from the back of the block and remove it from the trans.
5.)Split the pass. side susp at the UpperCA or Lower, and remove the axle from trans.
6.) Remove misc pieces like the flywheel cover, and two 19mm bolts from the rear mount.
And you should have atleast Two 17mm bolts going into the trans from the driver side.
Shifter rod is also a good idea to remove, the long skinny bolts from the a/c bracket work perfect to punch the pin out.
7.)Then along with the starter, which are both 14mm, should be atleast four-five 17mm bolts holding the trans from pass. side.
8.) Once you've unhooked most things underneath, use a jack with a piece of wood to hold the weight at the oilpan.
Unbolt the trans mount which should all be 17mm nuts.
Along with the front torque mount with three 17mm bolts.

And uh .. Can't think anymore, but that's a somewhat rough draft I guess.
Just replaced another clutch the past week, so it's kinda fresh in my mind.
