Default Is this a good deal?

Slowmotion motorsports has "crate engine" kits and the price seems a little high to me, but some of my friends are saying it's a great deal. What is your take on it?

dayem they have some nice looking blocks, it is costly! but probably is a good deal, cuz they have all new bottem end parts! i would try and get quotes from other companies with a good reputable name, and see what they're charging! just a start! by the way how much you looking to spend?

looks like they do alot of stuff to the block that you usually arent around

the price also seems kinda high since it has all those cleaning processes and labor

i think it would only be a good deal if they provided the core... your paying 3 grand for about $1000-$1200 in parts... the rest is labor...dont forget your not BUYING an engine... its just a rebuilding service.... way overpriced if you ask me...

it clearly states you must provide a useable block and head

+rep for Slomo. Great shop, my friends have all had their cars tuned there and have had no problems. IMO you get what you pay for, and you're paying for someone whose built countless motors and has experience doing it. Great shop, great guys!

i would take my chances on buying 3 used engines before spending that kind of cash on a rebuilt 1. you can buy a used engine beat the hell out of it, then rebuild it with somenoe locally or partially your self, buy your on parts and still be cheaper than 3k

Well again, sure it'd be cheaper, but if he doesn't know what he's doing building a motor, or doesn't know someone locally to do it, this would probably be the best option.

Plus, if you have a friend locally assemble it and they mess it up, whose liable? I guarantee they're not going to pay to fix it...

you make a good point but i think the price is still high. do research and find a reputable builder.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. If I were to do it I would only get the stage 1 package. Also, as far as I know Slomo is one of the only "reputable" builders around me. Ohio doesn't have much for the Honda scene, at all.

Seems like it is half and half on here as well as people on other forums.
Decisions, decisions...
