I just picked up a 1990 Civic Wagon this week.



It's Rio Red and the paint is in pretty good shape except for the hood. The hood is pretty ugly. This pic makes it look ok, but it's pretty wrecked. It has the clear coat peeling everywhere. Maybe the engine ran too hot and cooked it off? It's also got al ot of sand/particle damage on the very front of the hood where the emblem is.

How much will it cost just to repaint the hood? I think I'm going to do that then do a clear bra on the front, and call it a day.

 

earl sheib quoted me $100 to paint mine black... do you want to match the hood to the color of the car? cause they will prbly charge you more to match the paint

 

I know someone who just paid around $400 for prep and paint of a Volvo hood. That's a real shop though, not a Maaco deal.

 

Different places have different prices but im sure u can get a good job done for under 200

 

$200-$300 at a decent shop. I just dropped off an EF hood like yours to get painted for $300 but I also had three side bumpers to get painted. Oh and the hood had a 3 inch scratch and dent in it. One of the better places in the area wanted $400 but this place would start tomorrow and have it done in the 3 days so he got my business.

Wow three days is a lot of time just to do that. Should be about half that time

 

He probably wanted some extra time because he probably has more than one job to do. He probably thought I am the type to complain to the owner but i'm not. I just look and act that way because I am not stupid. I am fine with 3 days. Don't tell my friend who waited 3 months to get his car painted some where else.

 

Wagon hoods are not the same as the other EF's. $300 is what I was hoping for though.

 

The four door is also different from the two door. I think $300 is reasonable.
