Yea, people have, they've even taken it as far as smoking out parts of the inner housing which comes out excellent. Let me see if I can find you a link to it.

When I have more time and I can find a driver's side tail-light to have an extra pair I'm gonna send that user my tail-lights for him to do the work for me if he can for some money.
