Icon6 95 accord ex auto trans problem(not the normal trans problem)

ok, this isnt the normal trans problem that happens with auto accords. it started out being the normal problem where it would slip and then engage harshly into gear but now when you put the selector in 1st it goes into 2nd, and when you put it into 2nd it goes into 2nd, and when you put it into drive it stays in first till you put it in 1st or 2nd. also I lost 3rd gear altogether if you select d3 it stays on 4th and if you floor it in 4th it just shifts into neutral and bounces off the rev limiter till you let off. any help besides a rebuild or replace? ill probably end up doing a 5 speed swap if nothing else because I hate autos with a passion.

I would check the shifter cables them selves. Either that or the manual selector spool valve in the trans is somehow completely coming apart from all the parts that hold that assembly together.

You make no mention of any Indicator lamps being on (particularly the D4 lamp on the shift quadrant) so I'll have to assume it's internal to the transmission. Although this initially sounds like you might be totally #$@%'ed, it could be as simple as some of the spool valves sticking because of varnish buildup.
I do believe this does require more than the standard trans fluid replacement.
I would suggest finding someone with a BG powerflush machine and have them do a low pressure flush. They add a detergent and a conditioner when they do this which cuts the varnish. Low pressure doesn't dislodge any particulate matter which could start circulating.
I would consider it before plinking down a whole bunch 'o $$$ .

sorry I didnt think about that P, no indicator lamps, no anything just the trans acting up. we had it power flushed about 30k ago and that is when it started doing the trans problem that most accords do.

Try the stuff called transex, they have it in walmart. It aslo removes varnish and I've used it in my 96 and it worked great. Do about 3-4 trans fluid changes while driving for like 50 miles each time with the trans ex stuff in the tranny. Do a fluid change first before putting it in though, because you dont want it to slip because theres too much fluid. 2.5 quarts of ATF Z1 (Only use the honda brand) is the normal amount to add (2 quarts + transex)
