I have never had to deal with axles before. are they something i should get new or is it ok to get them off another car?

how difficult is it to do a rear disc break conversion? and where could i get the parts for that.

 

its all gravy to use known good axles off another car. make sure the boots and joints are good on em or youll spend the same amount repairing them as you will buying remans, with a core, of course.

if you have a good "u pull it" or "pull-a-part" type junkyard around, that would be great for getting mostly what you need for a rear disc conv.

 

Just my opinion, but if I was going through the trouble of replacing axles, I would seriously consider the cost of unknown quality used axles verses the cost of re-mans. I hate doing things twice. FWIW, I was very pleased with the price and service I got from raxles.com . This was about 9 years ago though.
