Help regarding welding on a restoration project...
So I'm parting out my EG hatch to do some restoration work..basically it'll be stripped out inside out and placed on a X-Y axis chassis jig to pull the chassis straight..
My question what should I do for the next step? I've seen some cars with the whole interior and engine bay spot welded and I was told it'll increase chassis and body rigidity by quite abit..however it'll be a costly procedure to go round the whole car welding..I'm not building this car to race or drag and I'm working with a fixed budget now..so I was thinking that i can save some moolah not spot welding the whole car but just some important sections..prolly the engine bay and some sections on the inside..would this be a wise move? Or issit a do it all if not nothing at all kinda thing?
I figured the money I save I could have some engine work done..but if I do the spot weld I'd have very little left for that..please give me some suggestions or comments guys..I'd really appreciate it! TIA!

If you want it to be stronger for cheap and easy.
Neuspeed front upper strut tower brace or a 3 point upper strut tower brace. Lower front H brace, rear upper strut tower brace non pivoit style, rear lower control arm brace.

You can get away fairly easily by buying a $50 Harbor Freight spot welder and going around all the door and window openings with it. If the body is already stripped down, spot welding the openings is less than a day's work.
Hey guys..thanks for your response..things to put into consideration here..
1. I'll be building a daily driver..no intention of racing it in any form.
2. The welding will not be done by me(cos I dun know how) but by a auto body shop.
3. I'm working with a fixed budget here. And it doesn't allow me to do all the things I want to do at one go.
I do understand the benefit of spot welding the chassis..the reason why I even thot of doing such a thing is that my chassis was squeaking whenever i hit the ramps or in a corner when the body flexes a little..so I was advised that doing spot welding would be the closest I can come to a "whole new" chassis after pulling it straight.
On the other hand..I would also like to get some cylinder head work done but it'll be out of my budget..and also to settle some little niggling problems while I'm at it..so my dilemma now is should I go for the full chassis job and spot weld it or should I just pull it straight and just go with lotsa struts and braces to strengthen it up more and use the money to change out parts and build a reliable motor for some years to come?
Will it be ok if I just spot weld the front end of the car and leave the interior part as it is?Or maybe there are some important sections in the car that I should also spot weld?
