Default DA+EF fuel pump covers? Looking for ideas/pics

Ok well we all know how much of a pain it is to drop the fuel tanks and swap pumps in these chassis. I'll be running a Walbro 255lph pump, but I'm looking to upgrade to a dual Walbro setup in the near future.

Ok, on to my idea. I would like to make a "trap door" for accessing my fuelpump without dropping the tank. Similar to the setup on the EG chassis of a civic. The vehicle that this idea will be tried on is a DA. It's a track/street car so having no rear seats is an option to make this work.

So has anyone done this before? I would like to make it with a hinge on one side and have it able to lock down. There would be some type of weather strip aswell to keep the cabin sealed.

I have full access to a welder and a great fabricator when my ideas complete. He'll help, but it's up to me to get the parts and idea together on paper.

Well thats my idea, so if anyone has done this before please let me know. Even if you haven't, any ideas are greatly appreciated. This is only in the planning stage so all input welcome!

Did it years ago on my DA. As soon as I learned I had to drop the tank my mind was made up. Mine is nothing fancy though. Just a hole basically with a cover on it now.

I'll see about getting a pic later today.

how often do you plan on changing your fuel pump? with the amount of energy you will invest into making this trap door it would be better put towards just dropping the tank and getting it done.

Here's a cell phone pic I dug up. You can imagine what the hole looks like by seeing the cover. It's held down by two screws and weatherstripping keeps the water and dirt out.

Really it's about simplicity at this point. I do plan on changing my setup and currently not sure about having to upgrade to larger exterior AN lines aswell. I would rather put time into making this then dropping the tank everytime.

Thanks too smooth for the pic. Did you have to make the hole fairly large? I'm not too worried about size, but function is my main concern. That pic will give me something to work with.

Anyone else have any suggestions or pictures PLEASE don't hesitate to post. Thanks everyone.
