at WOT i'm guessing i'm between 21-24 degrees? my tuner pulled out a bunch of timing because we thought my motor was pinging, but not i found a rattle under my dash and it sounded the same..
i'm on 87 octane on LS motor with i/h/e, how much timing should i add? it won't hurt to add more power..
plus, when u guys add timing how much fuel do you typically add?
1. Did you properly sync your distributor timing to your ems ?
2. Yes you maybe able to run more timing assuming your ignition timing is properly synced.

before you tell me to use a dyno, how much power.. if any would i see from using 91 octane rather than 87? i'd like to keep using 87 since it's my beater and i see 500 miles a week
Maybe 3-5 whp ? (guessing).

so it's not even worth it, so adding 2-3 degrees of timing wouldn't do much would it..
is column #10 my WOT timing? or is it shared between #8-10?

is this stock LS motor? ur timing for a stock LS looks a little on the low side even for 87 octane. Stock LS maps have timing at around ~26* and these cars are recommended to run i believe 87 oct from the factory. add timing and check ur plugs or do it on a dyno

okie dokie, so i'll add around 2* to columns 9 and 10, should i touch column 8? it's a ~4* difference between the two
Ohsnapz,
I can see your new to tuning, your tune looks smooth, I would honestly keep advancing timing untill you hear audiable knock you can really tell it sounds like BB's keep advancing it until you hear it and back it off untill it goes away "to be safe" although you can see ignition advance problems on the dyno before you can hear them...
Keep all your lines smooth, fix the one at the top too, from what ive been told you dont really want lines overlapping , you might however see overlapping lines on low map values usually on mine the first 3 far left columns are all overlapping.
Just listen for the knock.
just experiment with it having a little knock is fine you can stop and correct it if you hear it. just be easy with it.
From my limited experience tuning you tune the AF curve flat for NA cars under load 12.5 ish to 1 then once thats taken care of you mess with timing. you generally dont need to add or subtract fuel when adjusting timing.. if anyone is a tuner please correct me on this.

Please back away from the ems system, and stop trying to give advice. lol
Sry Aaron, nothing personal.
i had a straight b20z ( the almost 10:1 compression motor)
i run 30degrees from 4k to redline at WOT, on 92 octane no problems, on 87 you can hear some ping.
i then added a vtec head, and kept adding timing till it started richening up the motor, so i probably hit the volumetric effeciency of the head, and i backed it off a degree (27.5 at WOT on the b20z vtec (stock block and head)
