JDM BB4 Headlights and HID Question
I have the JDM BB4 headlights with the h1 & h4 bulbs. I am currently running hyper white bulbs for the h4, but using the conversion harness made for them by passwordjdm it only uses one filament. My question is..when buying HIDs for them I was going to just buy the low beams(h4) for now, and wait to buy hids for the high beams (h1) later, they come in H4 or H4 (hi/lo). Which of these should I be buying or does it not matter. Thanks.

I wasnt sure if it would or not. I just assumed go with the H4 only, but didn't wanna be spending the cash on hids and not being able to use them. I mean im sure I could modify the pwjdm harness to run the other filament if needed, but would rather go without the hassle.
H4 bulbs are not HID, are you talking about brighter bulbs for your ludes JDM projector housing?
If so, go and buy upgraded H4 writing harness that won't melt, and splice together the high and low so both beams turn on. You'll **** off oncoming traffic but it'll be worth it to see.
If you're talking about doign a hid retrofit, just put the HID projectors in low beam. I'm not certain there is room for bi-xenon hid projectors in the jdm housing.

I'm talking about buying H4 hids as found here http://www.ddmtuning.com/index.php?p...=101&parent=85
they are available in H4 and H4 (Hi/Lo). Thanks

Some bi-xenon projectors are actually smaller than just low-beam projectors, So .. anything will actually fit with proper modifications to your headlights. Venture to the HID-Retrofit world, you'll never go back to Halogen after experiencing HID-Power.
I can't just put hid bulbs in the housing? If they are H4 or H1 for the high beam bulbs cant i just put them in and hook up an HID kit with the same bulbs?
Ok I'll check out some write-ups on retrofitting and see how easy it looks. If theres a large margin for error I'll try to avoid it. I did think I could just put an HID kit in, but was wondering specifically whether to use an H4(hi/lo) kit or solely H4. I appreciate all the input guys.
you can't just stick the hid bulb in your regular housing. you have to do the retrofit. if you don't retrofit, you will be blinding everyone on the road. don't just cheap out because you don't want to spend the money. if you are going to do it, do it right!
i found out the hard way from one of the ebay-store-specials, $30 slim ballast HID kit, that there is a difference between the H4 (hi/lo) and just low, and joshua hit the nail on the head.
when i hooked up the hi/low kit, the lows (HID's) wouldn't come on at all, no matter what. when i flicked the stick for the lows to come on, the HIGH beam of the HID kit (H4) came on, then when i flicked the high beams on, my regular high beams (H1) came on as well, in addition to the other high beams.
so i switched the bulbs from my old HID kit to the new one, and voila... perfect.
so you NEED the H4 low kit.
