Icon2 EM1 going LST... Got Questions!!!

I spun a bearing in my B16A2 and now got ahold of a B18B built for boost(9:1). I'm going to get the Stock head machined (P&P, Angle Job, Upgrade Valvetrain & Stage 2 Cams w/Gears). I am also going P28 chipped w/Uberdata.

But at this time I don't have the funds to purchase the turbo setup and this is my DD. So I need some insight as how to tune this with no Turbo and what effect it will have (i.e. MPG, HP & Possible Negative Wear if any at all?). Basically a Built LST Longblock w/ NO TURBO!!!

well, an LS block is already running a conservative 9:1 compression. The headwork will bump your power a bit, but you didn't say what "stage 2" cams you're going to use. I assume they are turbo cams.

THAT is where you are going to lose a bit of power without a turbo. Generally, if you build the motor, but run a stock map, your power and MPG will be about stock. Your's will be no different. However..... those cams. Those are going to make you lose some power, and also affect driveablilty. If tuned right, it'll run a bit rich for those cams, so your fuel econ is going to suffer a bit.

Also, what injectors are you planning to use?

How about this, don't do the headwork yet. Run a stock head for now. Run a stock ECU, or stock base map, and just have a little LS swapped civic for now.

Or take it one step further and use that extra money towards getting the car turbo'd... LOL
