I keep hearing an Accord/TL 6 speed tranny should work. At this time I can't find a link saying it has been done, but i'm quite sure it has been done a few times and I have very little doubt that if it hasn't been done yet it can.

there's no reason i can think of that would keep you from bolting one in. the mounting may not be straight foreward. it's likely you'll need the Type-S mounts, or even custom mounts... if you can get your hands on a Type-S for an hour or so some carefull measurements to compare to the odyssey should give you an idea of what is needed in that respect.

my question: where would you put the shifter? it would be awkward on the floor... on the dash maybe?

'02 and up is when the Type-S started... so i'd imagine you'd want to start looking there. in '05 it went from a 5spd to a 6spd if my facts are straight.

im not to sure a TL trans will work, they are 3.2L and my Ody is 3.5L though the 07-08 TL type S is a 3.5L, but all are J series engines,

displacement doesn't change the transmission bolt pattern.. also, the power output isn't much different (by that i mean you won't break anything with excess mini-van power) i would imagine there is just more low end torque in the 3.5.

all J-series trans should interchange.

Put it on the floor, Dodge caravans, ford aerostars, and VW Eurovans all used to be available as a manual, all had a floor shift, really wasnt akward to use, just looked that way. (just as an fyi dodge actually used to have a 2.5L turbo caravan for '89 - '90 that in rare instances came paired with a 5 speed, fun grocery getter)

thanks for the info, but know looking at the price of TL trannys compared to a rebuilt auto with a warranty im kind of second guessing myself, if i could only see a write up on it i would jump all over it, its a bit overhelming to think of doing this with out any type of resources,

i found a lap of america video with bradley buchanan a driver and builder from Honda of Alabama. They have TL manual trans in there odyssey, so it is definetly do-able but the video does not go into detail about trans mounts or axles
