Prelude H22A into 97 Auto Accord (ex f22b sohc). Help me get it running for a good ca
Having a problem with getting my mates car running.
Basically to cut the story short it is a Automatic 1997 US Accord Wagon that had a F22B SOHC Vtec engine.
The gearbox shat itself and it seemed like a cheaper and better idea to upgrade to a H22A/with auto rather than getting the F22B auto repaired.
So a motor was purchased that was a proven runner apparently, and it was out a Prelude.
It was taken to a guy who apparently knew what he was doing (didnt really know Hondas though...), and he made a [potty mouth] mess of it.
Then my mate got it taken somewhere else and they got the vehicle running, we drove it for about 45km and then it just crapped out and wouldnt start. The car was returned to the garage/workshop that got the car running but they were stumped and couldnt find the issue.
Basically I fianlly have the time now and WANT and have a great Need for my mate to get the vehicle going. He is in a wheelchair and has been without his car for just about a year. It would be great for him to have his car back so he can get around properly.
I feel that with everybodies help, I CAN and WILL get it going. I basically need some steps as to what to check out. I have a fair idea as to what i'm doing.
I might be getting in a bit over my head if I ask to many questions but...
The questions I have right now are:
1. What should be done in terms of ECU and Loom when this conversion is performed? What ECU/loom should be used etc.
2. What order do i check things in? Can everyone help me compile a step by step list of what to check, how to check them etc. Kinda like a flow/troubleshooting chart.
3. Last time I was chekcing out the car it wasn't firing. I'm assuming there is an issue with the coil, does someone have another H22A coil or dizzy that they can send me?
I really look forward to everyones responses!
By the way I have read the how to swap guides. So I will be checking the vehicle out this evening a bit more with the information from the swap faqs that I have. Example: How A6 and A11 pins need to be swapped around (EGR and o2 heater sensor?)
