Question about an R for sale...
So this guy I know is selling his 2000FBP for 14,000 in craigslist, but he said he'd sell it to me for 12,000. I'm thinking about buying it but my buddy thinks I should pay no more then 11,000.
He baught it for 10,000, it has 100,000 miles on it, the Password JDM intake, and some springs and shocks. Its got all the original parts with matching vins and its clean as hell...
Think that hes asking to much??

I agree with the above post, offer him something u think is reasonable. On the other hand $10k-15k is usually the price range for them give or take some with condition.
I understand you want some opinions, but how can we get an idea what it's worth with no pics at all? I've found that my "clean as hell" varies greatly from most everyone elses. Can you post a link to the listing?
This is my opinion, and I am not an insurance company 'total loss' agent
The car that you are looking at is not a total loss, but you have to start somewhere.
So, what is a fair price for a limited edition car?
Who knows value better than an insurance company, setting the pay-out for a total loss Type R?
State Farm offered me $13,325 for my 01 R with 63k miles on it 18 months ago.
I did not accept, because I couldn't find one or two Rs in that price range. As it turns out, neither could they.
They increased the value of my (stock) R to $16,500
Since then, I have been in touch with another member of this site and he had the same results with his insurance company, this summer when they totaled his R. His car had 83K miles.
I think that a one owner, low very low mileage Type R, with no accidents will sell in the low $20,000 range
I think that a fair price for a stock Type R w/100K miles (springs and shocks are regular wear and tear items) is $14 - $17, 000.
I think that a highly modified Type R loses value, from there. That is just me (if I push my R to the point that I don't think that it is fast, I will modify on my own)
I think that a repaired Type R with photos and documentation, that caries a rebuilt or salvage title is $10 - $12,500. This is wher I think I am, with my R
What is your price range? If it's $14-17,000 spend more and look for one with fewer miles.
Just my .02

I think I have a decent idea of what R this is. Post the craigslist ad. Honestly, $12k for an R with 100k on it is a bit much. A bone stock '98 R in our area, with 50k on it just sold for $14k and it was beautiful. You also mention this guy bought it for $10k but has it advertised for $14k?
