Would a stopped-up or dirty EGR valve cause my idle to be too high?

I have it turned all the way down and its still at like 1100rpm... i dont get it! so you are saying that a bad EGR will not cause idle to rise?

 

there is plenty of other things like vaccume leaks and air in antifreeze lines or iac ect ect. go to search and type in high idle and oodles of posts will appear

 

well i cleaned my IACV today and the EGR valve and it dropped the idle down to about 900 for about 3 hours and it ran way way better than it did before... but after that it went right back to 1100. Bot the IACV and the EGR were EXTREMELY dirty so maybe some more carbon got dislodged in there after the fact? i heard somewhere that i should pull my intake manifold and scrape all the gunk out of it too? is that right?

 

yea they get pretty nasty inside like all the smaller particles that get through the filter and sht
