proper steel winter rims?
hey guys, im starting to look around for some winter rims and tires for my 07 civic Si coupe. I am wondering if any 5 bolt pattern 17 inch steel rim would fit properly, or if there were certain ones I need to use. also, do I have to use 17's or could I drop to 15 or 16 inch rims. thanks.
You also want approximately the same offset as your current wheel so that it's positioned for maximum clearance in the wheel well. Offset depends on width for positioning. The stock wheels are 7 inches wide (17x7) with a +45 mm offset.
The spoke design may be something to look at as well, so it doesn't interfere with the calipers.
If you buy new steelies from a place like the Tire Rack, they will know which ones fit your car. They actually have a guy whose primary job is to know exactly which wheels they sell will fit what car models/versions. (He's a longtime friend of mine; we've been doing track events together for many years.)
The Tire Rack has 16-inch winter wheel/tire packages for your car, so 16 is definitely another option, with 205/55-16 tires. I don't know about 15 though.

see if you can find some 16" steelies from a base model. you would then run 205 55 16 winter tires. my dad also has a 07 civic & just ordered up a set of yoke w drives for the steelies while he runs si wheels mar-oct
