Eg Hatch Vs Del Sol Debate
Okay let me break this down.
Which Shell is Better Based on Weight and Weight Placement.
Del Sol or EG. Ive got a Built motor, As it sits right now 20 Psi at 400+ HP ( Non dyno'd as theres no car around it atm )
This is more of a Street PLay car with Drag abilities but being its an hour away, i do not like to drive that far. So it needs handling but still good weight placement ( light but still grip )

C'mon Useless child. Based on basic weight and weight placement on the vehicle.
We're talking shells, not engine performance. Like for instance, Eg is really light in the back end. As Del sol i do not know anything about.

Was it not you who stated "Based on Handling and Performance abilities."? Of a shell? So are you talking about a shell or not? As far as I know shells pretty much just sit there. No handling or performance to them. Perhaps you'd like to rephrase the question? In any case I still say this thread is pointless unless we have an idea of what the end result/purpose is going to be.

Okay your not getting the picture i see.
Okay, Handling. Weight makes a difference in handling, were not talking about aftermarket suspension. Were saying if i threw my motor in there. Which one would hold a corner better based on weight placement. ( IE Heavy ended cars loose tracking in back end and fish tail. ) Get it, Or do we need to return to first grade.

I have just picked up a del Sol, and I can tell you that the car itself is much heavier feeling, but the weight is right down on the ground. I'm not entirely sure, but the del sol wheel base may be shorter... I really haven't bothered to check on that. The rear end can absolutely be swung around, but good throttle control will keep it right where you want it. Granted though, I only push 130 HP on my engine. I will say this though, the chassis of the del sol feels a little on the light weight side, and not having a solid roof on it doesn't help with body flex. it feels fine when you keep the targa top in though. my two cents.....
See that's the answers I'm looking for. Thanks for the input. I'll have to do some research and get some peoples input that's owned both see which they liked more.
Yeah, I actually haven't driven an EG hatch, but I have driven the other two EGs and I owned a 91 hatch for years. The center of gravity is much lower than the two and four door coupes, so it sits into its suspension a bit more, rather than riding on top of it (don't know how much sense that makes, but it's like lowering a car while keeping the bottom pan high..). Got to say, so far the del sol has been the most amusing. I wouldn't turn it into a serious track car, but it's great for cruising and autoX fun.

I own a ls swapped del sol and it is a fun ride, I have mine on a suspension w/ with a
moderate drop (sideways over any speedbumps is necessary). It's like driving a giant go
cart. With the right tires, swaybars, camber, suspension you wont have to worry about the
back fish tailing in a fwd. There are exceptions to the rule so don't be an *** about it. I
rarely take the top off because I don't need a tan and the body flex is also more noticeable.(
(as with any convertible car made in the 90's). If the flex is a problem put a cage in, but I
would suspect you would have to extend cage into the trunk to make the car more stiff.

Also, I Googled that too, that doesnt tell me anything, thats stock weights of the car with the d16 in it. That doesnt tell me if the weight is front, back, center, downforce, What. thats something someone will have to tell.
Thanks for the info. mskansan

Del Sol...FTW!! I personal think the DelSol would be a great buy...I tryed my friends hatch and dont get me wrong its really nice..but then I went to test drive a delsol man oh man..I feel in love with it by they way it handles and the look of it..so I had to have one..
92-95 HB
92-95 EX coupes
Del sol models "
And that's EXACTLY what you got.
If you were looking for info regarding "weight/front, back, center, downforce" etc. then you should have asked for it. Just like your OPENING question. You ask for one thing when you are looking for something else.
I hate Hondas, really I do but just for the faqt that everyone in my hood had a hatch with a fart can, then I drove a del sol and like the last post I fell in love! The feel and look of it (stock isn't that great) but with that engine hatch or sol will be bitching, but Ima get grilled with this but hatches get no more respect because they r not special but to the owner, how many times have u seen a white hatch with black stealies? (1,000s in my county) so for that basic I'll go sol all the way! Forget the weight ratio, go for the wow factor and fun to drive.!!
That's my opinion so bring it on.

HI well i own an eg8,em1,fg2 and an eg1 i have to say that the del sol is the funnest honda ive ever owned and right now its stock on blown shocks with eibach lowering springs in front and a strut bar in front lol i got it for 500 bucks with a blown engine replaced that just to get it runing im unemployed right now so its kinda hard to upgrade anything else but if i had the engine you have at the moment i wouldnt put it in a hatch or a del sol i would go for a 94-95 four door ferio TO MANY HATCHES OUT THERE the sol is close to become a unicorn as time goes by but the ferio in my head has a wider stance you can take all the suspension from a four door type r and swap it over with some tein or ksport to put that power to the floor and i think that would be a nice setup but if its not your cup of tea get the sol over the hatchty hope my 2 cents were helpfull
This is a funny story you guy are talking about because years back when the first F&F came out and everyone was into body kits and sound , i knew this country kinda guy that had a del-sol and another friend of mine with a hatch both bone stock, i was yound there were older guys and one day we were racing and sol in was in front, stay with me,
we diecied to go reallly really fast around this really really sharp corner, now the sol lost in the race but in the end he past us and keep going, he got the dam car on 3 wheels on a right hand turn in front of us and wen we stoped after and talked we asked him how fast he was taking the corner and he told us 90 F*&^K MPH witch i could see cuz when we raced we hit 100 but slowed do and thats when he flew past and hit the 3 wheel motion.
I dont know just thought i would tell you the kool story cuz i happend and this thread is just was it was about.

Hatch..... I owned a eg and now own a sol.
Eg was light in the rear but nimble. Sol feels heavy and like a big piece of jello going down the road. Both are fun nonetheless. Same suspension. Just take your pick.
