Icon2 new to honda need info

just bought 92 civic w aftermarket turbo
motor is d16y8
is this the motor for this car or is it a swap?
has a vtec valvecover but shouldnt there be an obvious vtec selenoid under it?
turbo setup looks installed by a kid needs to be all redone so trying to do research on this motor and setup to learn all i can and redo it right.
have found info w/ photos on other motor but not this one.
does anyone know of any good info maybe with photos on this motor?
THANX for any help on these matters in advance.

first off the motor is swapped, from like 96-00... is a obd2 motor! the solenoid should be behind it next to the injector clip #4, unless someone put a non vtec head wich that would suck. POST PICS, it would help a lot and i can probably help u out too...

thanx i will try to get some pics on tomorrow just look over the mess under the hood the kid blew the head gasket and prob the head after running the car with no waste gate or blowoff valve so we have a lot of work to do in the near future including ditching the auto for a 5 speed.
also if that is obd2 then how can i make sure it has the right computer installed which by the way is just hanging in the pass floor.
thanx again

well assuming is a obd2 motor, then is most likely jumped back to obd1... it should either have a p28 or maybe(but i doubt it) a P06, but u said this kid was dumb so idk lol.... Anyways in case is still obd2, then it should have a p2p, either a-31, a-32 or a-33, but take pics before jumping into subjects.

not a Y8 completely... that's a Z6 intake manifold (and it's missing a nut or two...) and i guess a Y5 (HX) valve cover because it says "VTEC-E."

i think you said you'd be doing a lot of work to get it right- i agree. if i had picked up something like that (hopefully for cheap...) i'd pull it out, tear it down and decide what was salvageable then replace everything else and rebuild from the ground up.

there is no telling what else is going on under the surface.

right, even if you parted out what's there you'd make profit.

was just trying to see if it was still vtec and was under the impression it was under the valve cover but when u told me where to look i found it
this other guy says the intake is z6 and valve cover is y5 is this true and if so what else can u see that is swapped
basically i am trying to find out what all i have to work with here
and i am going to start over so any advice on keeping this stuff or if something else would work better
the goal here is as much power as i can get out of this block with this turbo everything else is changable have heard of 5oohp or better but that maybe a bigger turbo than this thanx
