difference between header and ex manifold gasket?
I went to the autoparts store yesterday to get a gasket for my DC header. I asked for a header gasket and he said "header or exhaust manifold?" I didn't know there was a difference. If there is a difference can you recommend me one or two and teach me what to look for to know what I'm getting.
Thanks
Thanks
ok here are the difference:
Exhaust manifold gasket: gasket between the manifold itself and the cylinder head
Header Gasket: the gasket between the manifold and the down pipe should literally be a ring
Exhaust manifold gasket: gasket between the manifold itself and the cylinder head
Header Gasket: the gasket between the manifold and the down pipe should literally be a ring
My question is there a difference between a stock manifold gasket and some after market "header" gasket? does the stock (or similar) gasket restrict the flow from the head to the header?
and i answered your question. that is what they meant when they asked you if you wanted a manifold or header gasket. and depending on the manifold you are using they oe type gasket may be a slightly bit smaller but not enough to affect performance.
