b16a problem can some one help
ok i have a 1991 crx si and i just did a b16a swap and it runs great besides some time when im driving my tack starts to jump around then my motor starts bogging up and down and back fire and some time it dont do it at all i dont get it ???? can someone help please
Ignition Module is most likely going bad. Most kids call it an igniter even though it does not ignite anything. It tells the coil to throw current to the spark plugs and then they ignite the fuel mixture.
holy chit really? where'd you get that idea
everyone, including alldata pro refers to that unit within the dizzy as an igniter. You said it yourself, it sends a current which ignites the fuel. how it creates this current is irrelevant. igniter.. ignition module.. same thing.

its the smaller one with 4 wires going to it, im assuming your using a obd0 distributor, so one for a 89-90?(i think those are the correct years) DA should work
Ignition control module recieves a signal from the computer to trigger the ignition coil. the module send an rpm signal to the computer and to the tach. usually starts acting up from over revin. you can either swap out the whole distributor or go to the junkyard and ****** a module off of 90-93 acura integra I think I've even used module off of 88-91 honda civic. module is a brown squzr component, be sure to connect it the same way you to it off.
i could be totally wrong but heres a shot in the dark that worked for me with my b16, it would start bucking or lagging, it almost felt like the fuel shut off would kick on an off , but try cleaning the throttle control valve out on the back of your manifold, its 2, 12mm bolts but be careful you have to unhook a coolent line thats underneith it in the middle of the valve, it dosent go into the valve but theres a stem it connects to just pinch it n pull that off and theres another hose all the way to the left just pull that one off i think it a vaccum line not positive though i did it a while ago, so i dont quite remember what that line was but i know theres no fluids or anything and clean it out really good with carb cleaner, crc, whatever u have no degreaser or anything tho somthing that evaporates kinda quick, let it dry and then try it but as far as your tack bouncing around id say dizzy, but then again a shot in the dark, cleaning that valve for me worked as far a the bucking and lagging but my tack didnt bounce around, and clean the two holes on your intake maifold out as well were the brack hooks onto with q tips or roll a paper towel up, an hope it helps but again shot in the dark.
Brian....are you talking about IACV ?
Yeah..usually its a dizzy that makes your tacho goes hywire
could you check your plug, sometime theres a leak from valve cover, the plugs covered with engines oil.

yeah IACV, sorry was really tired an just posted really quick, sorry n dont know if it will help but it worked for me but my tach didnt jump around tho too so who knows but good luck
My B16 did the same thing until I replaced the distributer. There were a couple of wires inside with visible corrosion. A new distributer would likely solve your problem.
