Toda flywheels
Any body with Toda flwheels ever experience any problems?
I mean problems starting the car or of the flywheel breaking?
Just curious i'm running a Toda flywheel with an ACT 6 puck disc with a heavy duty pressure plate. I am goig to get rid of it probably by the end of the year (beginning to realize Toda products aren't as good as everyone makes them out to be)
Just wanted to know if anyone else hates their Toda flywheel?

guess i'm getting tired of the feel
part of it i know has to do with my on/off switch of a clutch now its making a funny noise which i think is due to the teeth on the flywheel not meshing with the starter teeth. I have had this set up over a year though & this is all of a sudden. I do plan on definitely getting rid of this clutch though

I see no reason to get a chomoly flywheel now anyway, if you replace it get a Fidanza aluminum. The chromoly can only be resurfaced so many times, but you can just replace the steel friction surface (not expensive) on the Fidanza if it gets close it wearing out.
I've never heard anything bad about TODA flywheels. Odd. You can't assume and blame it on any part until you actually take it apart and see, though.

I can't say I haven't had a problem. I was a victim of timing belt shredding teeth and although I can't say it was the Spec B's for sure I was having problems from the time they went in.

Go down half way and check out my post. I am willing to bet the the insert of the flywheel and the ACT friction pads do not go together. I have a worse problem but with only 3k miles.

After 3k miles with the Toda, I removed it during the engine overhaul and noticed that the starter gear only interacts with about 40% of the ring gear on the flywheel.
Anybody know if this is the case with stock flywheels?
I think the Toda is smaller (flatter) than teh stock units, which is the reason for the smaller interaction area.

No problems here.
Hell, I haven't really even heard of any problems with it from others either, which is exactly why I chose it.
BTW, did I mention that I am satisfied?
Well, I am.

.....no problems with mine, Rob Daddy!
toda =
all the way (except for the price).
I'd suspect your problem is the 6puck clutch... is it unsprung?
If anything, I'd keep the flywheel and replace the clutch with something a little more "streetable," ..... maybe a full face disc (sprung hub of course)?

Its unsprung. He's kinda made up his mind about it (And the Spec B's horror story and what happened to my car just re-inforce his standpoint on it). I have another motor I'm building for Mia so if he gets rid of it I'm puting it in her motor/car.
