h22 head, "mini"me" h23?
Long story short, the head on my friends h23 prelude ate its life, started pricing out parts at the local shop (pro spec Quincy, Mass) and asked about swapping the h22 Vtec head onto the h23 block and they pointed me here. My best guess is it'd be a similar procedure to a mini me D-series swap if possible which is my question. WILL IT FIT without major headache?
Easy squeazy. Search around in the prelude forums but you need to pull out an oil control orifice in the block of the H23, use all H22 timing equipment and water pump but keep the H23 manual timing tensioner, H22 head bolts and...I think thats it. H22 HG, wire up VTEC, and tune for your new found power. If you have everything apart, you might want to throw some type-s pistons in there. They drop right in on this setup, only need to make the H23 rods accept the type-s full floating wrist pins. (hmotors is the best source for these, btw)
While its all apart though you should really get everything balanced at the machine shop. Money well spent.
