I don't get it. If you don't know how much power you'll make how do you get a proper tune? I thought you get tuned with figures like that already in mind?

Hard to say... where/who did the tuning on the hondata? The head sounds like it's built for all motor performance... but the block is stock. Kind of sad to run such a nice head on that block. Ummm... 175 at the wheels?

As far as the reply you received, the tune is most likely done on a dyno with wideband... Most tuners deal with folks who have no idea how much power they should be making... No?

well im just saying that the setup will be tuned on hondata s300 not that its already tuned .. and i thikn 175 is way too little considering that my stock type r put out 185 to the wheels anyone else?

i would say 210-215hp to the wheel but like others say no body knows until you get it on the dyno

A stock Type R with an intake and exhaust can put down close to 185WHP. Especially since it has 200HP from the factory. And its about a 7% loss on FWD so around 185 is about right.
With all that work you should get a good 30 maybe even 40 HP out of it, just a guess.

Just asking. I would think one would have a general IDEA of their power output. The dyno would just be the reality check. Just my thinking any way.

how would it lose 40HP from the crank to the wheels? thats more than a RWD car loses...
Are you sure he didnt dyno on a mustang dyno?

my guess would be 178whp, with alot of tuning, when big company say when you use our product just for example headers) a stock type r will loose power, what the company is not say what has also been done to the engine, what kind of octain if they used a biger cam or injector ect. the header will make that kind of power but with all the other up grade that been done. so the way they try to sell it is if you use just the header you will gain x amout of hp.

I'd say about 190ish to the wheels, give or take depending on how high your revving and what kind of header your using, also how good the tune is. If you bumped up the compression though it would really help those pro 1's come alive. Those cams are designed for a higher compression then what the stock type R has, if you bumped up it up to anywhere in the 11.3:1-12.5:1 range it could make some decent numbers I bet, my .02. G/L with it, sounds like a pretty good build.

he could also use a thinner HG to bump compression. Or get the head milled.

where are yall getting these numbers from???

Stock USDM Type R put down 190 to the crank and around 165whp... JDM Rs are rated at 197 to the crank...

Manual honda's have a typical driveline loss of 15%... Dont know where somebody got 7% from...

With no bump in compression and no top of the line header... Gains arent gonna be more than 15-20whp tuned... 185whp tops...

which is pretty good for any Bseries... But bang for buck value is terrible...

Couldnt imagine paying $2000+ for 20whp

yea i just did some research and I found out that most FWD cars have a 13-18% Loss. And RWD have 15-20%. AWD was a big debate with some people claiming 20-25% and others claiming 23-30%

well starters, dont take everyones numbers to the head as they are all guess's. all factors that play into saying what ur putting down is dyno time, tune, tuner experience, tuning system, all ur supporting mods playing together without an issue i.e: timing, fuel, plugs, etc... like we all know not all dynos read the same just as not all tuners tune the same.

This is correct, I didn't see that he had a mugen HG, which would help, and if the head is milled or block is decked then it would definitely bump the compression. Ideally, a ratio of 12:1-12.5:1 would be pretty good for those cams and give some pretty decent numbers. Depending on what the final compression range is, and with a good header and exhaust combo, and a good tune it could probably make 220 to the wheels. Obviously it will vary from dyno to dyno. I've seen plenty of numbers around this range for engines with similar build characteristics. What is the size of the throttle body? I'm assuming that because the intake mani is ported it was matched to the valves and bored to the size of the TB.

Times wise, I could see at least mid 13's happening consistently, and MAYBE low 13's high 12's depending on what the final power outcome was, and if the car was lightened, had a good driver, and had traction. It's hard to say though...

im not tryin to say anyone is wrong but i had my jdm stock type r with hytech rep header make 185 to the wheels im not telling a lie so im figuring with this new head setup ill b making like 205-210 ... and im going to need to get a new head gasket cuz im taking this built head off the block and put it on my type r so what type of head gasket should i get in order to make the compression higher?

Gonna go out and say 175-180 hp, and if you're running normal street tires, I bet you'll be turning 14.5 at best. Post some footage of the run when you go...
