Default brake pedal is really hard

so i just got an 89 crx dx. the only problem with it is the brake pedal is very hard. the seller told me that the brakes just needed to be bled. which i know enough to know thats not true(correct me if im wrong). i believe it has something to do with the brake booster. is this just a matter of bleeding the booster(if thats even possible), or do i have to replace it?

Can't bleed the booster - it's controlled by vacuum.
Doesn't sound like a master cylinder problem at all - booster is more likely.
MC failures give unresponsive squishy brakes.
There are a few posts here that cover the procedure (search), you can probably Google it as well, or you can pick up a shop manual.

Check to make sure there are no leaks at the brake booster vaccum line. Also check the operation of the check valve.

this is an easy one, look around your brake booster there should be a vacuum line from the intake manifold to the brake booster, somewhere on that line there should be a gray connector pull it off and look on for a capital E with an arrow the arrow should be going towards the engine (hence the E)

i accidentally put mine on backwards one time and i had to STAND on the brake pedal to stop

https://honda-tech.com/forums/showth...hlight=booster

I found it using search... several pages into search, but still there.
Might have to push 'CTRL' and '+' a few times on your keyboard to get it to zoom in so you can read the scan more clearly.

yeah i had this same problem my hose was dry rotted .. u can use air compressor hose and some hose clamps from your local parts store.. and to check the check valve blow in one way and you should have air coming through then blow on the other side you shouldn't have air coming through.. and eveything is right u might have to replace the booster.. and there is an arrow pointing with an E this should be pointing toward the IM..
