I am only posting this message because the link from the 24 Hours page suggested "(forum for people who mistakenly think CRXs can finish)" We found an '87 CRX HF in a buddies yard. Transmission out due to broken output shaft bearing. Fixed bearing and replaced tranny. Replaced shocks with Advanced Auto specials. Upgraded front brakes to Interga. Then went racing.

Not only did we finish, we placed 19th in Class 1 and 35th overall. We completed over 450 laps. We were hit/bumped by other racers 6 times. We were always on the track except for driver changes. We changed drivers ~ every hour. We put more gas in and rotated the tires every 2 hours.

The only issue. We discovered a broken front sway bar link bolt while rotating tires Sunday morning. Codded the link back together and went racing again.

CRXs can finish!

Hehehe thats great. How many miles were on the odo?

 

176,000 miles. Check this out........We left the stock shoe brakes on the back. We did baby the RPMs. We all tried to shift around 4K on the first day. After the event, we all admitted that on day 2 shifts occurred closer to 5K. We can't believe it made it to the end.
