thinkin of buying salvaged civic si. interior was lit on fire
so i havn't seen it in person yet, but was wondering what a fire ablaze in the interior would damage. he said the whole interior is smoked. but would all the electronics be messed up too do you think? also for some reason the ignition got messed up and it needs a new one. im considering picking this 2006 si up for a few grand and replacing the interior. would you without knowing the extent of the damage?
\UPDATE: the car is in san jose, ca at century tow on leo st if somebody wants to check it out for themselves. the last offer he asked for was 2800 but you might be able to get it for 2000. the guys # is 408 561 4811. IMO this car is a snag for under 3Gs.

I say no.
There could be damage from the heat that would not be noticeable from a redone interior. One of my main concerns would be the curtain airbags. The sensor/triggering wiring may have been adversely affected by the heat.

If the car is only a couple grand BUY IT then sell the motor, trans and other misc parts. You have made your money alone on the trans. Then sell the shell to someone on Ebay and buy a clean hatch.

Once the interior was all said and done you're probably at the price range of a perfectly fine SI. Assuming you don't half *** parts.

1. Buy Car for $3000
2. Rip the interior out.
3. Throw in racing seats and roll cage.
4. Put $10k-$15k towards performance modifications.
5. Track the fvck out of it.

In that case, nevermind.
This must have been a pretty intense fire if the windows were blown out. (Whether it be from the pressure of the smoke, or from a firefighter's pick)
I recant my statement. It is not worth it.

I know its impossible for you guys to know, but what would u expect would need to be replaced since the fire was strong enough to melt the ignition? are all the electronics probably fried?

if it was enough to fvck up the ignition... it was enough to fvck up all the under dash wiring harnesses/electronics

It is sounding more and more like a car fire, than a cabin fire. Reminds me of those carfax commercials...It will show a car on fire...
"Some smoke damage..."<crosses it out>
"Brand New Interior!"
