Default Looking for a +5v power

Is there anywhere else I can tap for a +5v power source or will I just have to tap into the ODB1 ECU at D1?

I got no clue. Maybe into one of the sensor signal wires i bet. Why not try that and go from there? they are a constant 5V+ and the sensors dont run off of amps so you should be fine

Damn, I checked D1 and it's 12v!! yea, that's true the sensor signal wires are 5v but are you sure they're constant?

mostly everything will be 12volts unless the ecu uses a resistor I.E reference voltage like tp 5+ but i will look for one for you starting tommorow so u can hook it up with the s2k gauge cluster

Just a toss out but USB devices use 5 volts to charge so if you happen to have an extra Cigarette light -> USB Device adapter you could crack it open and steal the 12v DC -> 5v DC module.

Why don't you just make a small 5v power supply using a 5V voltage regulator? Something like this http://www.epanorama.net/circuits/psu_5v.html. Less than 10 bucks at radio shack I bet.

I will probably have to do that if there isn't a good 5v source already in the car to tap into.

if you have an injector resistor box laying around, that would work. it drops the voltage down to +5v.

The sensors on the firewall use 5V including the TPS. But they are only on with ignition on.

why dont you just use resistors to cut the voltage down? pm me if you need any assistance.

So I can tap into the power wire going into the TPS without any issues? ground-power-signal ?

Many satellite radios and new i pods run on a 5v DC circut. Use an adjustable voltage regulator to cut down the voltage to whatever you need.

What year car are you wiring the S2K cluster to. If it is a 1990-1991 CRX you can use Pin C13 (Yellow/White wire) on your OEM ECU wiring harness. I used this wire for the +5 volts for my Modifry ECT in my 1991 CRX si.

that is what i am wondering i would not want to drop any amps or volts maybe if you wire it in a parallel circuit

Will a regulator work?

Be careful you don't try and draw more current than it can provide though.

I believe the reg provides 1A and the ECT module draws 0.009A so I should be safe.
