Default for the real mad scientists out there

were all of the non si and hf model crx's hatch's and foe does made with stock optional brackets/mounting points to tinstall a sun roof or would additional welding of bolts etc be required? had a random thought about installing a sun roof on the hatch.

any info would be helpful

It requires a whole new roof with required supports and different shape.

^ dont think the civic can either

hahahaha jk man

to find a Si at the junkyard and just cut the top off of it and make sure to cut enough down on it to get the supports.

I have the dealer accessory sunroof that just pops up and I am just gonna pop it. Ill make my own supports for it

Either swap roofs or take it to a place that does this and is well respected locally.

You will surrender a touch of strength on the top of the car but outside of full track duty it won't be an issue.

I do love having a moon roof t-tops vert but since my car is mostly track time I just go with out.

When I had a z06 I looked into converting to Targa and was quoted around 1200.(it's simple on vettes really) I know a place here that will install a power moon roof for 600 and is great craftsmanship.

i mean as far as welding goes ya id take it to the shop but all the angling and cutting i would do. and yes i am concerned about the stability of the roof if i were to do this lol

Done right it won't be more then a mild decrease in structural strength.

Since the roofs are different on the sun roof and non sun roof cars I'd take your head liner off and get a picture, you'll be able to post it and someone will be able to see any places that it'll be safe or not safe to cut.

You may or may not need to reenforce or just swap roofs.

I've been looking into this but decided its not worth it.

The "bows" in the DX and STD roof do not have mounting points for the power sunroof.

Not to mention swapping roof skins, running 4 drain lines and sealing everything BETTER than factory.

If you really must have a sunroof i suggest a shell swap.
