Need opinions
Hey everyone, i know this isnt a tech thread but idk where im supposed to put it since it relates directly to a FG.
Im highly considering buying a c/f trunk and I am also looking into gettin seats next. Would you guys buy racing seats or get your factory ones re upolstered?
I wanna get Red Tenzo R seats or get a red insert done on my OEM seats. The Tenzo R seats are in this link and I will be paying $390 shipped for 2.

PS they are the Evolution seats on that page.

I'm not a fan of Tenzo seats. If I were to get seats it would be Bride or Sparco. Plus your stock seats have an air bag. I say have the stock ones reupholstered. As for the CF trunk, if you like it then go ahead, I don't care for them.
Your budget seems awfully low for seats, even reupholstered one's. You get what you pay for. I'd have my seats redone only if the shop that does it can do flawless work, I have seen too many nasty jobs that people think are flawless.
It's too bad that PasswordJDM doesn't make body panels, they are the only company I know that uses dry carbon. Every company I know that offers CF product is wet carbon over fiberglass backing. Seibon has 1 dry carbon piece but it's for the S2000.

Well i didnt wanna spend a ton a cash on some seats, i just wanted something for the look and maybe hold me better. but I'm going to do the door panels inserts in Red I think that looks good.
Thanks for the opinons and what not.

That really depends on the kind of car you are creating. I am assuming that if you are buying a c/f trunk you are very conscientious about weight, in that case, I would pull out the seats and put it proper lightweight racing seats that are bolted down. If you are just buying the c/f trunk because you like the look, I would keep the Si seats because I like their look.
The budget is low for seats.
"Style" is always changing, remember the cool clear Altezza tail lights?
You can not go wrong with OEM.

Yeah, with Type-R seats, you loose the height lever for sure, you can see that in pictures. It's very difficult to find a good auto upholstery shop. Back in my classic car days, we often went to antique furniture shops to have it done. Normally have to find the fabric yourself and it wasn't cheap.
I know a lever or two may be lost but as long as the seats can each move forward/backward and tilt the seat back, one should be able to make themself comfortable.
Have you looked into S2000 or RSX Type S seats? I bet you could find some decent ones for a fair price, they are nice seats with factory air bags. I like the Si seats personally, after driving cars with absolutely no bolstering these seats are welcome. Plus they go well with the flow of the car.
Change the door panel inserts first, see how it plays on the seats before you make the big leap.
Well, like he said it's the only problem. It would tick me off knowing that I lost function in my car by swapping seats for seats that are little to no better. Plus with the baller price tag, might as well step it up to 3k and put in a set of Bride.

Couldn't you just put the passenger seat out of the Type R into the driver's side of the Si and the driver seat from the Type R into the passenger side of the Si?

I also personally love the SI's stock seats, but Type R seats look amazing in there. I think their bolstering may be better than the SI seats too, but don't quote me on that.
The passenger seat doesn't have the amenities that driver seat does. So when you swapped them out your passenger would be getting the height adjustment or whatever else the Type R seat offers.
