Bleeding Brakes On A 1996 Accord

Default Bleeding Brakes On A 1996 Accord

I just replaced my master cylinder with a new one. I am about to bleed all 4 brakes. Which brake should I first bleed, or does it not matter?

according to some, bleed the furthest away first.. getting progressively nearer to the master cylinder.

According to the Accord shop manual the brakes are to be bled in a sort of criss cross pattern. Starting with the furthest away.

LHD Accord;


Make sure you keep the brake reservoir filled to the max after each brake is bled. Do not let it go empty.

Thank you for this! This definitely helped. Yeah, I made sure to not let the reservoir get low when bleeding them.

Hopefully people stop spreading misinformation. It is very specific on our cars. The RR,LF,LR,RF is the correct order as stated above.

The lines are crossed to promote straight line braking in the event of a failure. You don't want the system to run dry and suck in air so you have to make sure it's always topped off.

When bleeding you need to make sure the reservoir never gets less than half full or you will be pulling in air as you bleed. Bleed a few times and then refill the reservoir. Bleed a few more times and then refill the reservoir.
