Default 88-89 bumper moldings. Question

So a lot of you will agree with me on the fact that the 88-89 front bumpers look a lot nicer 90-91 front bumpers but the moldings on the 90-91 bumpers look a lot better. Soooo here's my dillema.

I can pick up a mint 88-89 front bumper today with an Si lip for 55dollars buttt I don't know if the moldings will come right off. Will they? If so please tell me how and if possible show me? If not, I guess FML?

Yes they do suck ***. I already need a new front/rear bumper. I just can't find any moldings for the 88-89 though :/ But I do wonder how my car would look if I just put on the 88-89 bumper with all the 90-91 moldings and stuff....

Here is my freshly restored 88 CRX Si, I painted the entire front and rear bumpers and replaced all the side molding with new OEM. The only thing that comes off the bumper covers is the front lip.

honestly, the difference on the 88-89 bumper trim is hardly noticeable when installed. the width is the same, it's the height and shape that are slightly off.
i'm thinking of sanding my trim a bit to make it look more like the 90-91.

the difference is VERY noticable. I don't know what your talking about. The blinker lights are different, grill is different, trim is different. Almost EVERYTHING about it is different.

obviously the bumper looks completely different! what i meant is if you like the clean flush look of the 88-89 bumper, the molding by itself blends in pretty well with the rest of the car.

I know this, that is why I'm going to be putting on 88-89 rear bumper, moldings and front bumper....

In your previous post you said the difference is hardly noticable then you said it's very noticable?

you are not making sense. your original question is about the trim on that bumper...i said the trim is not very noticeable. i posted a pic of my 91 with an older bumper. i've changed it's look since the pic, but it still has that bumper.

All or none. If the front molding is different from the rest of the car it does not flow well. Dont forget that the bumper supports are different as well not just the covers.

have you ever considered instead of changing the trim ,how about doing what I did, cut out the grill, make a new grill to fit in there, and change the turn signals, mine is on an 86 accord, but i have the same dilemma, nothing even made for it, I can upgrade to an 88-89 bumper from a sedan, but it makes me go with the partially clear turn signals, I got the Euro signals from a car in Poland, they have the separate parking lamp, and solid orange signal. Have you ever tried to see if an early accord signal will fit in there? 8-87, if so, you can use the same lamp with parking lamps. Sometimes if it's hard to change trim, you can change items around it and no one will notice the trim as much.

here's the grill on the accord, i milled the ends of the bar on the bridgeport, but you could smooth them at home with a sander, everything else was laid out and drilled at the house with my small drill press. bumper is due to be redone again, but you get the idea. this would work on any older honda with the plastic grill bars

grill supports on back side

I got rid of the covers, didn't look right and didn't work, but you can see how much alike the lights are to the rex
