Icon3 1995 (EG) Honda Civic hatchback, 5-speed manual, $2750

1995 (EG) Honda Civic DX hatchback, 5-speed manual, $2500 with steel wheels, $2750 as pictured

Edit: price dropped to $2500 with steelies and older tires instead of the VX wheels/new tires.

Selling my mechanically excellent daily driver, a completely stock Honda Civic 5-speed with 211k miles. Though it may not be the prettiest car in the world, it is without a doubt the best commuter car ever made. The light weight (2200 lbs, or 500 lbs less than a current Civic) and torquey engine means that it gets better mileage than a 2009 Civic, with mileage rivaling a Prius on the highway. This car gets 400+ miles to the 12-gallon tank. I wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere in the country.

Though it's a bit too nice for a full tear-down, this might make a good shell for a race car, given that half the suspension bushings have been done and it really is completely rust free aside from the door ding. I'm happy to supply additional pics.
  • Avg 40mpg highway, never below 36mpg even in city
  • Truly ice-cold AC, it blows so cold during monsoon season that it blows water vapor out of the vents!
  • Never in an accident, minor dings here and there from soccer moms parking their SUVs at Costco
  • Does not leak or burn any oil between changes
  • No squeaks or rattles, tight and well maintained
  • Dual front airbags
  • Extremely reliable, never had a mechanical breakdown, starts first time every time
  • Absolutely no rust anywhere, always a southern AZ car
  • Interior in good condition for the age & mileage
  • AZ legal window tint: 35% in front, 20% elsewhere
  • Lightweight Civic VX alloy wheels, the lightest Honda wheel at just 9lbs
  • 4 brand new Michelin X-Radial all-season tires (80,000 mi warranty) in May 2009
  • Shocks are ~30k miles old, suspension bushings replaced
  • Upgraded JBL speakers
  • No head unit installed -- add the Ipod-integrated Sony unit for $100
  • Absolutely stock, always maintained with genuine Honda parts
  • Third adult owner (never been riced)
  • Last year of OBD-I means no check engine lights unless something is actually wrong
  • Last two years of maintenance history:
Code:
- Timing belt & water pump (10/2007)
- Valve cover gasket & spark plug gaskets (10/2007)
- Fresh pads/rotors (10/2007)
- New axles (10/2007)
- Fresh Honda MTF (Transmission fluid) (10/2007)
- Valves adjusted (10/2007)
- All new bulbs throughout the car (10/2007)
- Rear trailing arm bushings (3/2008)
- Rear control arm bushings (3/2008)
- A/C system serviced (9/2008)
- New radiator and heater hoses (12/2008)
- Flush & fill with new coolant (12/2008)
- New Battery (Checker) (12/2008)
- OEM Fuel filter (3/2009)
- OEM MAP sensor (3/2009)
- OEM Air filter (5/2009)
- 4 brand new Michelin X-Radial all-season tires (80,000 mi warranty) (5/2009)
- professional computerized alignment (5/2009)
- Flush & fill brake fluid and clutch fluid (6/2009)
- Oil changes every 5k with Valvoline 5W30 Semi-synthetic
Obviously I've been maintaining this car with the intention of driving it another 200k miles. If I had the space, I'd keep it. Unfortunately, I currently have 3 other cars, plus a truck and a race car. Over the last several years, this car has saved enough gas on my 50mi/day commute (versus driving my truck) to completely pay for itself, including insurance and registration. The car is completely clean, top to bottom. Included with the car is a folder with all available receipts and records.

Cash only, price is firm and fair given the extensive maintenance history and brand new tires.

Car is located in Tucson, AZ. Contact info:

Good morning. Buy my car, it's nice. I think I'm going to try to find a patch for the driver's seat today.

This weekend I repaired the driver's seat. Now you have no reason not to buy this clean, classic hatch.

Happily -- PM me your email address and I'll send you what I've got; I'll go grab some engine bay shots tomorrow and post those up too.

Nope, not yet. I'll run home at lunch and grab you some engine bay shots -- it's not exactly pristine or freshly detailed, but it is clean. I can't stand working in dirty engine bays!

All the engine bay shots you can handle!

Battery is less than 1 year old, still under full-replacement warranty.

Radiator, cap and overflow replaced in 2005. All heater and radiator hoses less than a year old.

New MAP sensor and fuel filter.

The proud and mighty D15B7.

Factory vacuum routing diagram on the hood, if you're into that kind of thing.

Ahh, how soothing it is to drive a car that never breaks down.

I can drop the price to $2500 if you don't want the VX wheels/tires -- I'll put the original silver steelies back on for you. Otherwise, price is FIRM.

Bumping/edited to show price drop without the wheels/tires -- I can sell them locally if you don't want them.

Buy your little cousin a car that will last her through college! You know she'd appreciate this much more than some lame gift certificate for Christmas...
