Default skunk pro 2"S

hello right now I'm gettin my gsr ready to pull the motor i have everything for my build except rod/main bearings, oil/water pump, timing belt, headgasket ... the bore of the block is going to be 82mm i have wiseco 11.5.1 comp pistons and eagle rods, stock gsr 87mm crank. The head has only been resurfaced and haves a hot street port from ccc with supertech vt package from ccc,but with stock valve guids =(, and arp head studs..skunk2 itm ,68mm t-body not port matched, and hytech style header, no cat, too skunk2 cat back..

I already have a set of skunk2 tuner 2's but is thinking about changing to a set of pro2's. Im wondering if this build will be able to run them safley and make good power with the "vt" ,bore and stroke size. I know the compresion should be good ... keep in mind that the car will be a daily driver. I do not have a power goal for the car what it makes is what it makes. Im just tryna build a fun and reliable dd..Would it be worth it to sell the tuner stg 2 for them?

Another ? i had, was im considering a 4.9 final with first gear, and lsd i heard befor ppl say that it isnt very street friendly. why is that?.. it will be in a gsr trans if it helps.

I would go with Pro2's. You will definitely have a stronger powerband from idle to redline. Tuner2's are a solid cam though. Either way you will be happy.

I run an ATS 4.929 in my USDM ITR gearbox. The only thing that isn't so "street friendly" is highway cruising. I sit at roughly 4200RPM at 65mph. This does not bother me though. Seeing as you have a GSR gearbox, I think it would be more than fine with the taller 5th gear. Before I went 2.0L, the ATS 4.9 was the best mod I did to the car.

In my opinion, those who say a 4.9 isn't street friendly have girlishly sensitive ears and have the misconception that somehow fuel economy is detrimentally affected.

if i where to use the pro2's i think there would be some valvetrain clearence issues tho so i would have to get new shorter guides and have to re do the valve job, wouldn't I?
guess the cheaper route would be to keep the tuner2's

and i figured thats why ppl claimed the 4.9 final wasnt so called street friendly .. i will be pickin one up shortly for the build

This is true! unless your port job was was real good like a full race port than the pro2's will work but imo get the pro 1's they should be great for your setup. it should be around 220+hp with the pro1's.

i had a similar setup 11:6 comp. gsr head no port 3 angle vj, sk2 pro 1's/vt, sk2 pro ser. im port matched to 68mm tb, aem 3'' cai, rc 310, hondata s100, hytech big tube header,bc spec 3 cat back, lsd gsr tranny, made 216hp.

I then got a new tranny set up-m factory first gear, m factory 4.9 f.d, quaife lsd
Difrence was night and day i loved it it reved up much quicker and felt awsome it reved so much faster in every gear, drivabilitly is easiy i have a stg 3 clutch and 7lbs flywheel i dont know what people are saying but i can drive my car like stock you just got to get used to it, and its not much diffrent about 600 rpms higher on freeway in 4th at 8omph but its a great combo for all motor i now have a jrsc on a high comp. gsr with the same tranny and its a great combo!

hmm yea i might save some more money send the head back to 'ccc' have him install the bronze valve guides and recut the valve job, off the set of tuner'2s and look into a set of pro 1s

as for the final drive i deff, made up my mind and is going to pick it up

i think they only recommend using pro series springs and retainers when using pro2's or pro3's. could of sworn you can use their tuner series/regular springs and retainers with the pro1's. i am also using the wiseco 11.5:1 pistons/eagle rods with my h22 build. i plan on using the pro1's and ive already talked to a few knowledgeable guys/tuners about my setup and all of them said i should be ok as far as clearance issues are concerned between P2V.

Im using the reg sk2 springs and retainers on the pro 1"s, the pro ser. springs and retainers are not nessasary.
