I am thinking of getting a type r soon and was wondering....
I was wondering what kind of problems if any have you guys have had with your type r. What should I ask the seller? Also can't decide between 97, 98 or 00, 01. Whats the big difference besides the color. Thanks for your help and I hope to join the type R family soon.

00+ has a slightly different intake cam profile as well as color and faux CD trim. Also has titanium accent shift ****. CW is very popular. I actually recommend a 98 or 97(rare) though yellow ones are faster
Problems? yeah they are cop and rice boy magnets. Ive never had any problems other than a radio antenna with mine.

good luck on your quest.. there's many nice ones for sale from this website, if you're still looking for one..
i would ask him how often he's changed the tranny fluid, based on personal experience.. not changing it enough, and driving it hard, made my transmission very angry..
97 has a sligtly different lower front bumper and no rear windshield wiper.. 00 and 01 supposedly have a couple more hp due to SLIGHTLY different cams..

then go to the general ITR info, then the spotter's guide for more details..
edit: oh, and from what i hear, CW ownz..

The biggest problem is negative attention. Other than that , just take good care of the car and be careful not to mis-shift/over-rev.

if you get a ITR...whether it be black or white....dont be to fast to show it off...i recomend taking the stickers off., attracts a lot less attention...now if you get a yellow....you SOL ...its gonna get stolen
Pick one up with lowest miles with least amount of racing usage (street, autox, track, drag) and good maintenance history.
As mentioned I would look for one that is stock, never tracked (beaten on). Also regular maintenance a MUST oil changes, tranny fluids, etc. I would bring it to a personal mechanic or Acura dealer to be checked out: compression test, leakdown test to make sure everything is in good running order. There are plenty of very nice ITRS available on this board. I like the 97 and 98 CWs, but IMO the newer the better. I would go with a 2000-2001.
Good luck.
Good luck.
Besides the slight difference in cams, they newer('00-'01) also have larger (64mm) compared to the older (62mm) throttle bodies. Mine might be for sale soon. But i'm probably asking more than you want to pay
